Alzheimer Scotland releases worrying new figures

27 April 2011 - Over 1 miliion people in Scotland are expected to live to 100 - but half of them will have dementia. Alzheimer Scotland announced its updated dementia prevalence statistics, amending its previous figure of 72,500 to 82,500 people with dementia in Scotland. [link no longer available]

New diagnostic guidelines published

19 April 2011 - For the first time in 27 years, new criteria and guidelines for the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease have been published by three expert workgroups spearheaded by the Alzheimer’s Association and the National Institute on Aging (NIA) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
