ReadSpeaker enables the ADI website to be read out loud to you

15 May 2013 - The ADI website now features ReadSpeaker, a text-to-speech service which allows the main content of webpages to be read out loud to you. On most pages on the website, there is a Listen button near the top of the page. Clicking the button will launch a small audio player and ReadSpeaker will start reading the text of the webpage out loud. [Find out more]

UK government targets global effort on dementia

15 May 2013 - The UK government has announced that it will use its Presidency of the G8 to develop an international approach to collaboration on dementia research. A G8 dementia summit will take place in September to secure greater coordination. [read more]

USA study: 1 in 8 report increasing confusion or memory loss

13 May 2013 - New results from a study in the USA have shown that one in eight adults aged 60 and over report increased confusion or memory loss in the previous 12 months. This is according to data just released from 21 US states that used the optional Cognitive Module as part of the 2011 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). [read more]

More dementia funding announced for New Zealand

1 May 2013 - Alzheimers New Zealand welcomed yesterday's announcement from the country's Minister of Health that more funding would be invested in supporting people with dementia as part of a new package of services for older people. [link no longer active]

ADI celebrates successful 28th conference

29 April 2013 - ADI partnered with TADA Chinese Taipei to host the 28th International Conference of Alzheimer’s Disease International in Taipei from 18 to 20 April 2013. More than 1000 delegates including people with dementia, professional and family carers, researchers, clinicians, scientists and staff of national Alzheimer associations gathered in the vibrant city to exchange knowledge and experiences through informative sessions and lively workshops. ADI recognises efforts of China's CCTV and Australian Minister with 2013 Award

23 April 2013 - Over the past week, Alzheimer's Disease International has paid recognition for the great efforts carried out by Chinese Central Television (CCTV) and The Hon Mark Butler, Australian Minister for Mental Health and Ageing in improving the lives of people with dementia and their carers. Nutrition and dementia report commissioned

20 April 2013 - ADI and Compass Group have come together to commission a joint report to investigate how the right nutrition may help make life better for people affected by dementia. An introduction to the topic has been published, and a full report will be published later in 2013. [read more]

ADI and Bupa launch new Global Dementia Charter

18 April 2013 - Together with international healthcare company Bupa, ADI today launched a joint Global Dementia Charter, ‘I can live well with dementia’ that, for the first time, outlines the rights that people living with dementia around the world should be able to expect to allow them to live well. US Alzheimer's Association launches 2013 Facts and Figures report

19 March 2013 - The Alzheimer's Association have today launched their report, 2013 Alzheimer's Disease Facts and Figures, which contains the latest data from the USA on prevalence, mortality, caregiving, and use and costs of health care services.
