Romanian Society calls for national plan

1 March 2013 - Yesterday, Societatea Română Alzheimer called for a national dementia plan to be introduced in the country to address the growing numbers of people with dementia and promote improvements in treatment and diagnosis for those living with the condition and their carers.

The call came during the Society's National Alzheimer Congress, which is currently taking place in Bucharest. Alzheimer's Disease International's Executive Director, Marc Wortmann, was present at the event to support the call, stating that the global cost of dementia currently exceeds $600 billion and highlighting the other countries within Europe that have already developed strategies to begin to address this.
