ADI statement on rights of older persons in Latin America and the Caribbean

17 November 2016 - ADI Regional Representative to International Organizations, Raymond Jessurun, will deliver a statement today to the ECLA Expert Meeting on the Charter of San Jose on the Rights of Older people in Latin America and the Caribbean in Santiago de Chile.

The Americas, especially Latin America, will see the highest relative increase in the number of people living with dementia by 2050.

The statement calls on all governments of the region to continue their support for the United Nations Open Ended Working Group on Ageing towards an International Convention To Protect The Rights Of Older Persons, and for the development of the World Health Organization draft Global action plan on the public health response to dementia 2017-2025.
