What is Alzheimer's Disease International?
Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI) is the umbrella organisation of Alzheimer associations around the world.
Vision and aims
Alzheimer's Disease International wants to improve the quality of life for people with dementia and their families throughout the world. We aim to do this by building and strengthening Alzheimer associations and by raising awareness about dementia worldwide.
How many members does ADI have and where are they based?
We currently have 71 members and generally allow one member per country. Each member is a not-for-profit organisation focused on supporting people with dementia and their carers.
History of ADI and registered status details
- ADI was founded in 1984 from an initiative of the Alzheimer's Association (USA) and the Alzheimer associations in the UK, Canada and Australia, and with encouragement from the World Health Organization (WHO). ADI has been in official working relations with WHO since 1996.
- ADI is registered in the USA as a non-profit organisation as described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
- ADI is incorporated in the state of Illinois. ADI's Employer Identification Number is 36-3366783.
