World Alzheimer's Day 1999
Who cares?
The theme for the 1999 campaign focused on family carers. No matter where you live in the world most people with dementia are cared for by their families. The right support at the right time can make a real difference to a family's ability to care.
We aimed to convey that dementia affects the individual and their family. There is help from Alzheimer associations and there are practical ways to ease the stress on carers.
Dementia is a world challenge and with an increasing elderly population the numbers of people with dementia will increase dramatically. Most of this increase will be in the developing world.
