Here we report findings from in depth interviews with caregivers in two centres in Southern India 10/66 caregiver intervention programLack of awareness of dementia as a health condition, coupled with unresponsive local health services are two of the biggest problems facing those with dementia in the developing world. What kinds of services are needed in the developing world, and how can they be developed? 10/66 population-based surveysADI's 10/66 Dementia Research Group now has funding for detailed surveys in five countries - Brazil, Cuba, Dominican Republic, India and China. Over 11,000 older people will be surveyed over the next three years, yielding information about prevalence, risk factors, care arrangements and impact. |
